Notes:  The photo was taken of the old homestead at the Banning-Lewis Ranch on the eastern prairies of Colorado Springs.  Just over 21,000 acres of the ranch were sold for development in 2005.  I arrived on a mostly clear afternoon, but as I hiked out to it, clouds rolled in. My sense of its uncertain future was heightened—through infrared—by the storms sweeping the old house and rock formations.
